Public meeting to discuss the Lowest Greenville Planned Development District (aka Lowest Greenville Rezoning Concept)

Thursday, July 29, 2010 @ 7pm / Vickery Towers, 5600 Belmont Avenue @ Greenville (entrance on south side across from US Post Office)

Council Members Angela Hunt and Pauline Medrano will present their proposal for the Lowest Greenville Planned Development (PD) to the Lowest Greenville community.

BelmontNA Board votes to support proposed Lowest Greenville PD

On Wednesday afternoon, after weeks of debate and careful consideration, the Belmont Board of Directors voted to support the Lower Greenville Planned Development proposal.

The Board voted 6 - 0 in favor of the proposal. Board Member Avi S. Adelman agreed to abstain from the vote due to a conflict of interest (in his role as general manager of the Greenville Avenue Restaurant Association).

If anyone has questions about the decision, please contact the board members directly to discuss the issues involved in this proposal and what led us to decide in favor of supporting it.

You're invited to join us at the community meeting with our City Council Representative, Angela Hunt on Thursday July, 29, 7pm at the Vickery Towers, 5619 Belmont @ Greenville Avenue. An opportunity to interface with your City Council Representative and your neighborhood leadership is rare, so we hope you'll come out, look for us and introduce yourselves.

These gatherings tend to be lively, controversial and energetic. There's often media coverage due to the likelihood of dramatic moments arising from heartfelt outbursts of concern. This is the time when neighbors get a voice that goes straight to City Hall.

It's your opportunity to shape the changes you want to see in your neighborhood. We look forward to meeting you!

You can read Ms Hunt's concept about the PD on her blog at this link.

You can read the most current version of the proposal in the City of Dallas' 'ordinance' format (legislation style) at this link.

Representatives from Lower Greenville-area neighborhood associations met in April and again in early July with Ms. Hunt and representatives from the Dallas Police Department, Development Services Department, City Attorney’s Office, and the City Plan Commission to review this concept.

Ms Hunt has agreed in earlier statements and correspondence that the BelmontNA will be included in all discussions about the proposed PD and have a seat at the big table in the public meeting. Our representative on this panel has not yet been selected.
